It's still autumn in Vienna, no signs of the winter so far. Absolute perfect conditions for running and even for biking to and from work. Since starting training again I have had 3,5 really good weeks. I have even managed to keep the stress down and leave work at reasonable times of the day:). Being back in training also means being back on the track. It took me a long time to enjoy track trainings and even longer time to get my tibial muscles get used to it. But, it has got better and better during the years and I guess I have never enjoyed it as much as the last weeks. Ok, that might happen to connect with the fact that I have never been faster on the track but well, it makes fun and that's the most important thing! Due to the fantastic weather we were able to do a long training on Schneeberg last weekend. Both of us quite tired so low speed, but it was a fantastic day: Watching really fat chamois. Enjoying a peak without icy wind (must have been first time on Schneeberg that I didn't freeze my a.. off on the peak..). Missing the path down so having to run quite much further, then getting rescued by a nice, elderly couple who felt so sorry for us having to run (we must have looked VERY poor and slow;)) that they drove us the 4-5km's to our car. Ending the day with some fantastic cakes at the local café in Puchberg. A day creating energy! The last 5 days I have had osteopathy lessons all day, but at least I can celebrate that I am more than half-way in my professional development;). 3,5 years done, more or less, another 3 to go... In those weeks of lessons, I reduce the training volume a bit, to avoid too high loads. Less hours and kilometers and 2 instead of 3 quality trainings (1x track, 1x treadmill 3x10' threshold-training). I don't reduce core stability or strength training, since I like a good continuity in this training. This model works fine for me but I am glad the lessons are limited to 5 days in a row. This time I even put in one day completely off training. I was tired and no use of overdoing it. Doing mistakes is ok but doing the same mistake twice is stupid - and I have learned from the previous years. Which means, this year I have managed to put in one day off work after the osteopathy-weeks. Less stress, less pressure to manage everything and to balance everything in a perfect way. That actually feels really good! Some pics from Schneeberg - enjoy it! |
