Last weekend David and I spent 4 days in Ramsau am Dachstein, to kick off the new training season. The mountain racing season ended on Oct.1st - and after some weeks of joyful lazyness it was time to shake the body again. We had 4 fantastic day, with a weather like in summer (exept the frosty mornings) and could enjoy masses of beautiful kilometers. Ramsau is more or less perfect for a training camp like this - there are masses and masses of tracks and paths to explore and a very varying terrain. Flat, up&down, long uphill, mountains, forest, field - you name it. Monday morning we spent at the gym and thanks to the balcony we could do the stretching (and a bit of sleeping) in the sun. It should always be like this! It was a nice to discover, that my shape has stayed more or less fine during those weeks of eating, sleeping, resting. Ok, Saturdays long trekking with David was quite hard, but I guess that was more due to our new training gear - a flexible rope mounted between us, allowing me to run closer to David's speed and giving him a good training due to the resistance - even if he's running with me. Anyway, it was a great tour, but it was quite a hard opening, so I was quite happy when we got up to the end of the hill;). All in all I did about 80km in those 4 days, spread on 7 session (3 sessions with lots of climbing, the other 4 flat or slightly hilly). In addition I did one session in the gym and a extra session of core stability/strength and quite a lot of stretching. And not to forget, some serious cake-eating:):). |
